Our journey
How we got here
Our flats are built across inner Melbourne — home to generations of families and new arrivals from around the world
Premier Daniel Andrews announces all 44 flats will be demolished by 2051. Most residents find out from a press conference.
Residents begin organising estate by estate. 44 Flats United is formed. First flats in Carlton, Flemington and North Melbourne are targeted for demolition by 2031.
Parliamentary inquiry calls for an immediate pause — finds government failed to provide evidence for demolition over retrofit. Class action launched.
The fight continues. We are growing, organising, and we are not going anywhere.
